Privacy Policy
This policy covers the info page at marcusmind.vercel.app, the web app at marcusmind.netlify.app and the Marcus'Mind Android app.

2. Website and hosting
The info page (marcusmind.vercel.app) is hosted by Vercel, Inc., the web app (marcusmind.netlify.app) by Netlify, Inc. When you access them, technical data such as your IP address, the time of access, browser information and the files requested are processed. This data is used for delivery, error analysis and security; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in secure operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Fonts and images are served locally. The page code contains no analytics or advertising trackers; the contact form only connects to Web3Forms when you submit it.
Hosting data may be processed outside the EU, in particular in the USA. Vercel describes its safeguards and retention criteria in its privacy notice and its data processing addendum, Netlify in its privacy policy. How long logs are retained depends on the service and the project settings.
Video. The introduction video can be played on the information site. It is hosted on YouTube and is only embedded via youtube-nocookie.com after you click the video card; before that, no connection to YouTube is made. With your click (consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), YouTube (Google Ireland Limited, Ireland; Google LLC, USA) receives, among other things, your IP address, browser and device details and the page you are on, and may set cookies or similar storage on your device. When you close the video, the player is removed again. Without JavaScript, the card opens the video directly on youtube.com. More in Google’s privacy policy.
3. Contact form and email
When you send a request, we process your email address, the selected topic and your message in order to handle and answer it, as well as your name if you choose to provide it. The form cannot be sent without an email address, topic and message. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (answering requests), or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for contract-related requests.
The form uses Web3Forms by Web3Creative (India). Form data and technical connection data are processed via its infrastructure and forwarded to our mailbox at Google. Web3Forms may have IP and email addresses checked by spam protection services. Processing outside the EU is possible; the provider cites Standard Contractual Clauses as a safeguard. Its data processing agreement specifies a technical retention period of three years for form submissions; how long they remain visible in the dashboard depends on the plan. You can send deletion requests to us. See the Web3Forms data processing agreement, the Web3Forms privacy policy and the Google privacy policy.
We keep correspondence only as long as necessary to handle it or to meet statutory retention obligations. Please do not send health data or other sensitive information.
4. Data in the Marcus'Mind app
Bookmarks, your own lists including their names, language, theme, font size, usage mode and display and navigation settings are stored locally on your device. Bookmarks and lists may reveal which topics are on your mind. There is no user account, no cloud sync of our own and no automatic transmission of this information to us. The info page does not read the app data.
Storing and reading this information on your device is strictly necessary for the function you use (Section 25(2) no. 2 of the German Telecommunications Digital Services Data Protection Act, TDDDG); insofar as personal data is processed, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR.
The web app is set up as a Progressive Web App and uses a service worker to create a cache of offline files. For automatic language selection on your first visit, your browser remembers for the current session that a redirect has already taken place. The Android app already contains its app files and uses only the internet permission; it does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts or photos. Installation and store updates are handled via Google Play; Google's privacy policy applies to this.
Local data is not deleted automatically after a set time. You can remove all local data via your browser's site data or, on Android, via the app storage. When you open external links, for example to publishers or booksellers, the privacy policy of the respective service applies.
5. Your rights
Where the legal requirements are met, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests on grounds relating to your particular situation. You can withdraw any consent you have given with effect for the future. To exercise these rights, please contact the email address above. We have no access to app data stored exclusively on your device.
You can lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information. We do not make any automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.
